General Manager Mike Rizzo remains ambiguous as to whether the Nationals will be buyers or sellers at the July 31 trade deadline, but he has indicated that the team is interested in extending first baseman Adam Dunn.
Per Ben Goessling:
"We're looking into it. We've been talking about it since spring training," Rizzo said. "We're looking at every way to improve the club. We like where Adam's at, both offensively and defensively. He's a big part of the clubhouse, and he's a big part of the middle of the lineup."
Dunn, in the final season of a two-year contract signed in February 2009, currently makes $12 million.
