On the days when Stephen Strasburg pitches, the eyes of sports fans in the D.C. area stay focused on Nationals Park. If you had tunnel vision on Big Stras this afternoon, you missed some pretty big happenings around the sports world.

- John Isner and Nicolas Mahut are still playing the longest match in the history of grand slam tennis at Wimbledon. Its tied at 59 games apiece in the fifth set, and has been suspended until tomorrow because of darkness. Remember the seven OT game Maryland and Virginia played last year, the longest in the history of lacrosse? In terms of total time, this match is about 8 times longer than that. If this match was a baseball game, it would be 43 innings long, according to MLB.com. That's an awful lot of tennis. ↵
- In the World Cup, the U.S. soccer team advanced to the round of 16 with a 1-0 win over Algeria. The winning goal was scored by Landon Donovan in the 92nd minute, after 91 of the most frustrating minutes I've ever experienced as a sports fan. The goal was the difference between going home at the end of pool play, and winning the group. Big win for the good guys. ↵
But now that those things have both concluded, for today at least, you can turn your full and undivided attention to Stephen Strasburg, who's start against the Royals is just under way.
