Capitals Select Evgeny Kuznetsov In First Round

Why mess with a good thing?

The Washington Capitals stuck to their winning formula tonight by selecting a Russian with their first round pick (26th overall) in the 2010 NHL Draft.

The Caps drafted 18-year old center/left winger Evgeny Kuznetsov, who spent last season in the KHL, and reportedly plans on playing there for another couple years. Kuznetsov was projected by most to go in the late first round. The Scouting Report compares him to Alexander Semin. Well how about that!

Kuznetsov played for Russia in the World Junior Championship. See below for video of his performance in that tournament.
