Ted Leonsis: Great Owner, Less Than Spectacular Scout

Ted Leonsis has been through a bit of a whirlwind over the last few weeks. From acquiring the Wizards, to drafting John Wall to dealing with both the NBA and NHL Draft is certainly an exhausting gauntlet, especially for an owner who prides himself on answering fan e-mails through all of the madness.

I suppose that makes the following revelation from Ted less than surprising, but still a bit odd to hear:

I certainly have never seen our first round pick this year play live. I saw him once play on TV, and via some video. I am not ashamed to admit it. That is why we employ great scouts all over the world.

The good thing is that he recognizes the importance of his scouts, something the Memphis Grizzlies are still struggling to understand.
