In an expected move, Michael Lee of the Washington Post is reporting that the Washington Wizards will not extend a qualifying offer to Randy Foye, thus renouncing his rights and making him an unrestricted free agent.
Randy Foye will become an unrestricted free agent on Thursday after a source with knowledge of the Wizards' thinking confirmed that the team will not extend the $4.8 million qualifying offer. Had the Wizards tendered the qualifying offer, they would've had first right of refusal if Foye signed with another team. Now Foye, the seventh pick of the 2006 NBA draft, will be free to sign with the team of his choice when the free agent negotiating period begins.
Apparently this might not be the end of the road for Foye as Lee continues to mention that the Wizards could be interested in bringing him back at a lower price. Was this a cap move to save the $4.8 million or do they really plan on bringing the young guard back?
