Nationals At Braves: A Night In The Bizarro World

Is anyone watching the Nationals game right now? Is anyone else as confused as I am?

Nyjer Morgan, batting .249 coming into tonight's game, is 2-for-4 with a run, an RBI, and - get this - is 1-for-1 in the stolen base department.

Cristian Guzman, before tonight, had drawn only 10 walks on the season. Tonight, he's been walked twice.

Alberto Gonzalez, thought of as nothing more than a spot duty utility player, is 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Hell, Craig Stammen has even pitched six extremely solid innings, allowing just three hits, two walks, and one earned run.

What else could we possibly pile on to complete this night in the bizarro world?

  • Ian Desmond is inserted into the lineup as a fielding replacement late in the game?
  • Matt Capps doesn't have to labor through a ninth inning save opportunity?
  • Dimitri Young rescinds his retirement, emerges from the Nationals dugout and hits a pinch hit home run?
