Ian Desmond Drives In Winning Run, Gets Ejected

Livan Hernandez wasn't the only player who had a beef with an umpire last night. After Ian Desmond broke a 2-2 tie in last night's game with an RBI single, he was called out when he tried to advance from second to third on a sacrifice fly two batters later. Problem was, he was originally called safe by the third base umpire before being overruled by first base umpire Joe West, who is no stranger to odd calls and ejections, although he did appear to be correct in this case..

While the umpires deliberated their decision, Ian Desmond decided to take off his helmet, and that's when everything went downhill.

Desmond was ejected from the game, but at least he made his seven innings count.

In other news, how about that hearty boo from the crowd after Ian was ejected? It's been a while since fans have had something to boo about other than the actual product on the field. And I must admit, It's a nice change of pace.
