Nationals Blow Another Late Lead, Fall 5-4 To Reds In Extra Innings

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Drew Stubbs' run-scoring single in the top of the 10th inning proved to be the difference, as the Cincinnati Reds held on for a 5-4 win over the Washington Nationals in the rubber match of a three- game set.

Scott Rolen had a pinch-hit two-run homer, while Jonny Gomes added a pinch-hit RBI double -- both in the ninth -- for the Reds, who took the final two games of the set and have won three of their last five.

Bronson Arroyo yielded six hits and two runs, struck out five and walked one over eight frames, but did not get a decision. Francisco Cordero (2-3) blew the save for surrendering two runs on as many hits in the bottom of the ninth, but managed to pick up the victory.
