Adam Schefter is reporting that Vincent Jackson of the San Diego Chargers has been suspended three games by the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy. In February, Jackson pleaded guilty to his second DUI charge, which calls for a response from the league. Schefter on how the suspension might play out:
Jackson's suspension could be a moot point, however. He has been planning to not report to the Chargers unless he signs a long-term contract extension that nobody believes is forthcoming.
If the season begins and Jackson has not reported to the team, then he would be suspended for three games that he wouldn't have played in anyway.
There are two ways to look at the suspension, in terms of how it affects the Redskins potential interest in him.
First, that the team might not be interested in a player facing suspension that will also require a fat new contract. Or...
Second, that the price to acquire Jackson just went way down. Buy low!
