The BB&T Classic, the City's annual winter basketball showcase, has announced the teams that will participate in the 2010 version, via the Dcist.
The headliner is the Terps vs. the Temple Owls of the A-10. Anytime you can share a room, even if it's the size of the Verizon Center, you have to jump on that opportunity. The undercard ain't too shabby either. GW vs. Navy in a re-match of last year's beatdown by the Colonials, and Florida against American.
If you're the tournament organizers, how do you not pit Maryland vs. Florida in the showcase game? Temple is a nice team, but these are two programs that have won national championships in the last ten years. Maybe they think its a rivalry because Temple beat Maryland when they were ranked a few years ago, but I would have much rather seen Temple play American, and the give the Terps a shot at the Gators.
Even still, it's always a good tournament, and now that it is going to be a full day triple header, it's definitely worth going to.
UPDATE: As Patrick Stevens points out, the Florida-American game is a return game from when American traveled to Florida last season.
