Your 2011 Videogame Redskins Will Be Overwhelmingly Meh

New, 1 comment

Summer is a time when a young man's fancy turns to love.... and the prospect of starting a new franchise mode in Madden. For those looking to turn the Redskins into a perennial juggernaut, this year will be tough sledding. Hog's Haven has a deeper breakdown of the rankings, which he finds for the most part to be fair:

The game only puts one Redskin in 90's territory and it should come as no surprise that it is London Fletcher. I am a little shocked at Haynesworth's 86 overall rating, but I am perfectly content to consider him snubbed. The defense in general is solid, but it doesn't jump off the page as the show-stopping unit we all think it very well could be. The one rating I hate on defense is Jeremy Jarmon's 69 overall. I think this is not an accurate reflection of this particular player, but it could be a result of his injury. The other number I might quibble with is Kevin Barnes' tackle rating--I would like to see his tackle number in the high 70's or so since I think that is one of his strengths (but what do I know?).

The problem with using the Redskins in the electronic world is the same one that faces the real life team...if one of your key players gets injured, you are totally boned. Our linebacker depth is truly worrying, while an injury to the vastly overrated D'Angelo Hall will see opposing wide receivers taking it to the house on alternating possessions.

My recommendation is that you do as I do and recreate yourself as a 90 rated rookie who can do a bit of everything. Of course, don't do as I do and let yourself be signed away by the Seattle Seahawks after low balling yourself on a contract offer. I have less loyalty than LeBron.
