Stephen Strasburg Is Moving A Ton of Jerseys

We are over a year removed from the famous "Natinals" debacle, and Stephen Strasburg is doing all he can to make sure that seamstresses the world over learn the correct spelling of the team name. According to Dan Steinberg, Strasburg had the best selling jersey in June, and may have even set the record for most jerseys sold during his first month in the Majors. Even more amazing:

More than 78,000 Strasburg jerseys were sold through July 1, making his the top-selling Nats jersey of all time. Yes, in one month he outpaced the entire career of Ryan Zimmerman for jersey sales.

I'm assuming that the popularity of the "Zimmenator" has yet to penetrate the Midwest. With Strasburg's ascension to the top of the merch moving heap, Washington now has three stars in Strasburg, McNabb, and Ovenchkin who rank first or second in jersey sales in their respective leagues. Unfortunately, moving all this product has yet to correlate to wins. Further, I can guarantee that it is only a matter of time until you start seeing DC flooded with pink Strasburg paraphernalia. So, Strasburg's popularity can be seen as a mixed blessing at best.
