ESPY's? Pssssh. John Wall's Got Better Things To Do

If John Wall wins either of the ESPY's ("breakthrough athlete of the year" and "male college athlete of the year") for which he has been nominated tonight, the award will have to be accepted on his behalf because he has made it clear that he has better things to do with his time. According to Michael Lee, Wall will skip tonight's ceremony to prepare for the rest of the Wizard's Summer League games.

Wall had originally intended to catch a flight to Los Angeles after the Wizards' morning scrimmage against the Portland Trail Blazers and then fly back before the team's walk-through on Thursday. Dwon Clifton, another adviser and co-agent for Wall, said some unexpected scheduling conflicts, including a meeting for NBA rookies, would've forced Wall to scramble to make a difficult and quick turnaround. Basketball "is most important this week and we didn't want to disrupt the focus on that," Dwon Clifton wrote in a text message on Wednesday.

Good choice, John. Also, being in Vegas isn't the worst silver medal in the world. If it was the "Boise Summer League" we might be having a very different discussion right now.
