Stop me if you've heard this one before:
Clinton Portis has lost some weight over the offseason and will attack this season with a renewed sense of vigor and purpose, according to a tweet by Jason Reid:
Redskins sources: Clinton Portis a lean 217 pounds (played at more than 230 last season) and eager to remind everyone who runs things.
Forgive my callousness, but I think I'll wait to see how this whole thing plays out before I totally buy into it. It's not that I don't believe Clinton or the organization, it's just that I've been hurt too many times.
This is not the first time we've heard reports about Clinton dropping weight over the summer and intending to make teams pay over the next season. When I hear this report I start looking forward to a 1,500 yard season, and every year I end up getting the same Clinton Portis; which is not the worst thing in the world, it's just not a guy I would ever accuse of "running things."
I've seen this movie before, and all I'm saying is that typically it doesn't end with the same promise with which it began.
