Allsopp's Hat Trick Powers United To 4-0 Win

New, 1 comment

If you expected this English Championship club to dominate the last place team in MLS, then you haven't been following the league.

It's not rare for MLS clubs to do well in international friendlies against the most powerful clubs in Europe and South America. These teams visit the U.S. for a big payday while in pre-season mode. MLS teams are in top in-season form. And the 100 degree weather surely didn't help Portsmouth's cause.

In this match, it was D.C. United that was able to dominate. Australian striker Danny Allsopp had goals in the21st, 31st, and 65th minutes. Newly signed foreign acquisitions Pablo Hernandez and Branko Boskovic each set up a goal, and Hernandez added one of his own.

United returns to league play next week with an important road match against defending champions Real Salt Lake.
