Nationals Will Honor Andre Dawson After All

Earlier today, Federal Baseball's Patrick Reddington wrote a guest feature for us on how the Nationals are not always keen on honoring their past as the Montreal Expos. Reddington noted that the team hadn't announced any plans to honor Andre Dawson, who entered the MLB Hall of Fame this weekend with an Expos cap.

That, however, has changed. According to Ben Goessling, the Nationals will "recognize" Dawson on August 10 before the team's game against the Florida Marlins (who, ironically, will be honoring Dawson themselves on August 6).

It remains unclear just how Dawson will be recognized, but however it's done, it will probably a good compromise. While it would be wrong to just sweep the Expos' history under the rug, it probably isn't worth having a huge ceremony considering most D.C. fans have no connection to the Expos' players.
