I have no idea how many Georgetown fans reside in Chicago. It's probably way more than I would think, considering the team has a very national fanbase despite being a hyper-local team. But I do know this: Georgetown seems to have some fans out there that you might not expect.
↵Because according to this article, Georgetown made Complex's list of the top 10 most gang-affiliated hats in sports, checking in at number nine. The reason? A Chicago-area gang known as Gangster Disciples (part of the larger Folk Nation gang alliance) has adopted the Hoya logo as it's own. Unofficially, of course.
↵The gear honors the gang's founder Robert Hoover, and commemorates the phrase "Hoover's On Your A**," which I'm guessing is something members say when another gang member has screwed up. Actually, I have no idea what it means, and I shouldn't even speculate. All I know is that the acronym of that phrase is "Hoya," just like Georgetown's nickname.
