Ryan O’Halloran of CSNWashington.com reports that head coach Mike Shanahan says the Washington Redskins are getting closer to inking left tackle Trent Williams, the team’s first round draft pick.
Only one of the top 18 picks (Oakland’s Rolando McClain at No. 8) has signed. A league source said general manager Bruce Allen traveled to St. Louis last weekend for negotiations, but Allen returned to Washington without a deal. Ben Dogra is handling the talks for Williams.
"I think we’re very close," Shanahan said. "Hopefully it gets done in the near future. … We’ve dealt with these signings for a lot of years. I would be surprised if he’s not in here quickly."
