Each weekend Half Smokes Heroes will pay some respect to a group or individual flying under the radar who has gone above and beyond the call of duty during the week.
↵Matt Capps will get plenty of accolades in the coming days for his selection to this year's All-Star Game. As Adam Kilgore noted today, Capps had to overcome the death of his father last October, not to mention the transition to a new team in order to make his first All-Star Game.
↵But as we give Matt Capps his due credit, let's not forget about Tyler Clippard's role in getting Capps to the All-Star Game. There's no way Matt Capps would be second in the majors in saves if Tyler Clippard wasn't having such a great year as a set-up man. And let's face it, if Matt Capps wasn't among the league leaders in saves, he would not be going to the All-Star Game this season.
