I know it's hard to believe, but there were good young pitchers in the Nationals' system even before Stephen Strasburg and Drew Storen got here. Perhaps the most promising is right hander Jordan Zimmermann, who has been on the disabled list since he had surgery on his elbow in February.
↵Byron Kerr is now reporting that Zimmermann is progressing through his rehabilitation starts, and should be back with the team before the end of the season.
↵↵↵Jordan Zimmerman told me he expects 2 more starts w/ Potomac; hopes Sept. return. I think he will be ready sooner
↵
Zimmermann started 16 games for the Nats last year. He only went 3-5, but had a respectable 4.63 ERA. The sooner he gets back to the big leagues, the sooner the Nats can start assembling their rotation of the future.
