Redskins Are NFL's Highest Scoring Offense

With their 42-point total on Friday night, the Washington Redskins have scored more points in the preseason than any other team so far. And that includes the Cowboys, who have played twice already.

When was the last time that the Redskins were leading the league in scoring in the preseason?

The year was 2002 and Steve Spurrier's Fun 'N Gun offense was taking the league by storm. The Redskins opened the preseason with a 38-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the American Bowl, then went on to score 37, 35, and 40 points in the rest of the preseason.

The Mike Shanahan era so far looks very much like the Steve Spurrier era. Hopefully this is where the comparisons end.
