Former Redskin Ladell Betts Signs With Saints

Ladell Betts has spent each year of his seven-year career with the Redskins after Washington drafted him in the second round way back in 2002. But when the team added Larry Johnson, Willie Parker, and Ryan Torain to Clinton Portis in the off season, there wasn't going to be much room, or carries, for #46.

Coming off a 2009 campaign in which he lost a lot of time due to injury, it wasn't necessarily a sure thing that we would see Ladell toting the rock in the NFL at all next season. Well I have good news for the Betts fans out there, ccourtesy of ESPN.

The New Orleans Saints didn’t wait long to get their replacement for injured running back Lynell Hamilton. They added veteran Ladell Betts on Monday afternoon.

Betts immediately should fit into a backfield rotation with Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush. While Thomas and Bush likely will share the bulk of the carries, Betts likely will take on the role of the big back and get some carries in goal-line and short-yardage situations.

Not a bad team to join. Congratulations, Ladell.
