Tonight's recommended options (all times EDT):

Baseball

7:00 p.m. - Nationals at Braves, MASN. Why does it seem like the Nationals play the Braves 65 times a season? Can we stop playing the N.L. East leaders for like, 10 minutes, please? The Mets are usually imploding about this time. That would be a nice change of pace.

7:00 p.m. - Mariners at Orioles, MASN2. If there was ever a series that needed to be confined to 27 innings, it's this one. Last night, it went to extras before the Orioles walked off in the eleventh. Let's try to keep it reasonable tonight, guys.

Football

All Day - ESPN's Coverage Of Brett Favre's Return. Kidding ... There's no reason to put yourself through this.

7:00 p.m. - Training Camp Daily, CSN. I know it's just pre-season, but the Redskins are coming off a great game. So this is probably the most upbeat you will find this crew. TIMES ARE GOOD.

Other

9:01 p.m. - Shaq Vs., ABC. Shaq races against Tyson Gay, the fastest man in America, if not the world. The jokes are bottlenecking in my brain right now, you'll have to insert your own.

Movies

8:00 p.m. - ATL, BET. The manliest, toughest guys in this movie prove their dominance with competitive roller-skating. Man, Atlanta is a crazy place ...

8:00 p.m. - Cocktail, E!. This was way back before Tom Cruise was crazy; when he made bartending look like the coolest job in the world. Tune in for, at the very least, the speech he gives.
