The Wizards' Uniforms Will Look Slightly Different Next Year

New, 1 comment

If you saw any pictures of John Wall at the rookie photo shoot yesterday, you might have noticed some slight alterations to the Wizards' road uniforms. They now feature a V-neck, white writing and a brighter yellow stripe. Mike Jones of TBD was the first to point this out, and Dan Steinberg blogged about it late last night with this comparison.

As it turns out, though, those jersey changes were essentially mandated by Adidas, who makes all the NBA jerseys. According to Wizards spokesman Scott Hall, Adidas recently went to a new material and design, and the Wizards had a few different choices for the alterations. They chose what you see on Wall in that picture.

In other words, if you figured this was the first step toward a complete Ted Leonsis-inspired rebranding of the team, sorry to disappoint you. But hey, at least it's something. I have to admit that I like the jersey on the right a lot more than the jersey on the left.
