D.C. Council Member Michael A. Brown Forgets He Wasn't On All-Met

This story by the Washington City Paper's Dave McKenna is almost too ridiculous to be true. But it is true, and therefore, we must point it out.

You might remember a local politics story a couple weeks ago about how Michael A. Brown, an at-large D.C. council member, was angry because a fellow named Michael Donald Brown was benefiting from having the same name as him when running for another seat on the council. He claimed Michael Donald Brown was guilty of "political identity theft," or something.

Not sports, I know. But here's the sports tie-in. For a while now, Michael A. Brown has been claiming he was a member of the 1983 or 1984 All-Met basketball team. McKenna wrote something a while back about how he couldn't confirm this fact. Now, thanks to McKenna's further research, we learned that there was indeed a Michael Brown that played in that year's Capital Classic -- a different Michael Brown.

To review: the same person crying foul about "political identity theft" committed what McKenna deems "athletic identity theft." Pot, meet kettle.
