In an interview today with Fanhouse, Mike Shanahan addressed Albert Haynesworth's comments to the media in the locker room following the team's 23-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
"One thing for sure that is clear to me is that Albert has gotten away in the past with playing without practicing,'' Shanahan said. "That will not happen under this regime. If he's going to play, he's going to practice, and that is the same with every player here. The days of him playing without practicing are over. And that, to me, says it all.''
Shanahan added that he was "Not aware of that'' when asked about Haynesworth's reported rhabdomyolysis.
Quite a different tone from Haynesworth's comments yesterday. Haynesworth seemed to infer that it was the coaches' decision to hold him out of practice due to his headaches. It certainly makes sense that Haynesworth should not be playing in games with the first team when he is not yet able to fully practice, but the question of why he is not practicing remains unresolved.
We don't have confirmation yet whether or not Shanahan used "air quotes" at all during the interview.
