Albert Haynesworth's New Drinking Buddy

Albert Haynesworth going against his word is nothing new to folks in D.C. He broke his pledge not to speak to the media last night following the Redskins's 16-11 win over the Jets, but no one really seemed to mind. Actually, he was quite entertaining when addressing his relationship with Mike Shanahan.

"I'm going over to dinner at his house, probably tonight," Haynesworth said. "Gonna sit and have a cigar and talk."

Okay, we get sarcasm. But the point is still well taken.

Haynesworth was on the field for approximately 30 plays last night, which was exactly what the coaches had planned for him. He made his first appearance just four plays into the Jets' opening offensive possession, and lined up at right end full-time with Washington's nickel package, and occasionally with the first team defense after that. Oh yeah, and he played pretty darn well.

Redskins fans and sports talk radio hosts alike have been agreeing all along this offseason that all it will take to put the Haynesworth drama behind us is some strong play and some wins. The team's victory last night was the first step in that direction.
