Miami, FL (Sports Network) – Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn both clubbed a three-run homer, as the Washington Nationals outlasted the weather to beat Florida, 9-3, in the opener of a three-game series at Sun Life Stadium.
Dunn added an RBI double for the Nationals, who have won three games in a row and four of five overall. Jason Marquis (1-7) gave up three runs on seven hits and walked three in 5 2/3 innings to pick up his first win since September 8, 2009 against Cincinnati.
Brett Hayes hit a two-run homer for the Marlins, who have dropped three straight. Alex Sanabia (3-2) allowed four runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings to take the loss.
The start of the game was delayed two hours, 49 minutes because of rain.
