The Dallas Cowboys looked poised to tie the game at 3-3, but a missed 34-yard field goal by David Buehler was a fortunate but perhaps fitting end to the drive.
The Redskins thought they had stopped the Cowboys on third down, but the drive was extended by a controversial Unnecessary Roughness penalty on London Fletcher.
The first big decision of the game came when the Redskins accepted an offensive pass interference penalty inside the 10-yard line. Declining the penalty would have resulted in a Cowboys fourth down, but accepting the penalty moved the ball back to the 16, where Buehler would miss a field goal just two plays later.
Highly touted rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant has three catches for zero yards so far.
