Cowboys vs. Redskins Live Blog: The Mike Shanahan Era Is About To Begin

New, 7 comments

Hello everyone. My name is Scott Jackson and I wil be hanging on my couch tonight and sharing my thoughts on the Redskins-Cowboys game tonight after each quarter.

For those of you that care, I do a Monday Column for SB Nation D.C. and during football season (starting tomorrow) called "Chain Reactions," with observations on the Redskins, Terps, Navy and anything local-ish on the gridiron.  I also do a little radio when stations ask and co-host The Brian MItchell Show on 106.7 The Fan on Saturdays from 10-2 p.m.

Nothing is better than a Redskins/Cowboys showdown ... well IF the Redskins beat them. Otherwise, you have to listen to those annoying Cowboy fans, and we all know that type. Before we start, a couple week one notes that you may or may not care to know.

  • Head coach Mike Shanahan is 12-4 (.750) in openers and his 12 wins are the most by active coach.
  • The Cowboys are celebrating their 50th Anniversary -- I know, who cares -- and they are 34-15-1 (.694) on kickoff weekend, the best mark in NFL.
  • The Cowboys also have a league-best 32-18 (.640) record in road openers.
Check back later for more thoughts, and feel free to use the comments section to chat with fellow fans.
