There's A Third Sports Talk Radio Station In Town

The last couple years has seen an explosion in sports talk radio in Washington D.C. Before, all you really had was ESPN 980. Now, you have them, 106.7 The Fan, which has been very successful since starting up a little more than a year ago, and now apparently a third station.

As first reported by DCRTV last week and noted today by Dan Steinberg, WTNT 570 AM is being turned into SportsTalk 570. The station will be owned by Red Zebra Broadcasting, which also owns 980, and will feature Steve Czaban's new daily Sporting News Radio program in the morning and ESPN programming in the afternoon. It's kind of the inverse of 980, which airs ESPN's nationally-syndicated show "Mike and Mike In The Morning" before switching to local programming later.

For now, the lineup (and their web site) seems pretty bare bones, but Czaban definitely has a following, which should help the station get off the ground.
