How Much, If Any, The Nationals Have Improved This Season

With the attendance problem the Nationals had last night, now is as good a time as any to analyze their progress as an organization. Ben Goessling at MASN Sports looks at where the team is now compared to where they were a season ago. The results? They may not be that much better, but at least they now have the pieces to improve moving forward.

The record may be about the same, but they now have players who could potentially make up a successful core in the future. That's the type of thing that fans of a losing franchise salivate over, but Goessling asks, is that enough?

It's a different team this year, but the truth is that it still isn't very good. If the young talent they have assembled pans out, then they could be looking at something special. But until then, they will still lose a lot of games, and have a lot of low attendance figures like last night.
