Everyone likes rooting for a winning team. Winning teams are fun, and winning teams provide any fan with a sense that they, in some small way, contributed to the winning. Winning teams allow fans something to be happy about to break up their mundane (or not so mundane) lives.
↵But of course, cheering for winning teams just because they win (more commonly known as "bandwagoning") is frowned upon in the sports world, for good reason. Nobody likes a frontrunner, and the thrill of victory is much sweeter for a fan when you've stuck through the bad times.
↵Because of this, few will like Bryce Harper's choice of favorite sports teams. The 2010 No. 1 pick was on "The Mike Wise Show" with Holden Kushner and Brian Mitchell on 106.7 The Fan, and was asked about his favorite teams. His answer, according to Nationals Enquirer:
↵↵↵↵
↵
↵↵- Bryce Harper is a Cowboys fan.
↵- Bryce Harper is a Duke fan.
↵- Bryce Harper is a Yankees fan.
↵- Bryce Harper is a Lakers fan.
↵Guess Bryce Harper really IS Baseball's LeBron James.

Dan Steinberg has a full transcript of the exchange here. I wonder what happens when if the Nationals start winning.
