It was pretty much a foregone conclusion, but it's pretty much official that Jim Riggleman will be back as Nationals manager next year. MLB.com's Bill Ladson is reporting the Nationals will make an announcement later this week.
The Nationals are expected to announce by the end of this week that Jim Riggleman will be retained as manager, according to a baseball source.
The Nationals could have bought out Riggleman's contract after the season, because next year was unguaranteed. However, they apparently are satisfied with the small amount of progress the team has made.
Federal Baseball has more on Riggleman's future with the Nationals here.
