Capitals Sign Matt Hendricks To One-Year Deal

According to Katie Carrera of the Washington Post, the Capitals have signed center Matt Hendricks to a one-year deal. Hendricks was in camp on a try out with the club, and has earned his way onto the roster.

His performance in the team's first preseason game was likely a big reason why the club decided to keep him on board. Hendricks had a hat trick, scoring half of the team's six goal against Columbus.

Hendricks is a veteran who has played his entire career either with minor league affiliates, and the Colorado Avalanche. Last year, while playing in 56 games, Hendricks recorded nine goals.

Hendricks is a center who should help out with the depth at the position, one of the Capitals biggest weaknesses.

Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
