College Football Kickoff: Maryland, Navy Resume Rivalry In Crab Bowl

Virginia Tech vs. Boise St. isn't the only football game going on in the area on Monday. The Maryland Terrapins will kick off what they hope to be a bounce back season against the Midshipmen of the Naval Academy, in a game that will be played in Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium, the home of the Ravens.

Maryland will have to bounce pretty high for it to be truly considered a bounce back season. The Terps finished an incredibly disappointing 2-10, which included an overtime win against James Madison, and a loss to Middle Tennessee St.

Maryland's hopes rest on new quarterback Jamarr Robinson, who might be able to provide the dual threat presence that Ralph Friedgen has been lacking for the last few years. Robinson, now a junior, will lead an offense that relys heavily on their outstanding wide receiver and kick returner Torrey Smith, who was a memeber of the All-ACC Team a year ago.

Meanwhile, Navy is coming off a successful 10-4 campaign, which was capped off by a convincing 35-13 win over Missouri in the Texas Bowl.

Navy's triple option gameplan begins, and ends, with quarterback Ricky Dobbs. Last season, Dobbs had just over 2,200 total yards through the air and on the ground, to go along with 32 touchdowns. He's sure to put up similarly impressive numbers this time around.
