2010 has been a lost season for D.C. United defender Marc Burch, much like his team. Burch's season did not begin until July 31, due to a foot injury. Now, a little more than a month later, his season will end due to that same foot injury. According to Steve Goff, Burch will not play the rest of the season.
It's still not clear how Burch re-injured his foot, as he played all 120 minutes of D.C. United's 2-1 U.S. Open Cup semifinal loss to Columbus on Wednesday. Perhaps his foot was injured all along, and he was willing to play through it as long as the U.S. Open Cup was still in reach. Who knows? Either way, coach Ben Olsen said Burch will probably miss at least four months.
