The Washington Post hosted a summit this morning with some of the owners of the D.C. sports teams. Ted Leonsis was there and he publicly requested some new artwork at the Verizon Center.

Statues are reserved for heroes of the organization and Abe Pollin certainly qualifies as that. Pollin did so much for the Wizards, or Bullets as they were known in the early days of his ownership, that a statue honoring his accomplishments is totally warranted.
↵Pollin not only built the organization to what it is now, but he also built their arena, revitalizing the Chinatown area in the process. Since Leonsis now owns the Verizon Center and the franchises that play there, it shouldn't be a big problem for him to make this statue happen.
