Mystics Forward Monique Currie Will Miss Entire WNBA Season Following Knee Surgery

Even though the WNBA season is still about six months away, the Mystics have already learned that they will be without one of their key players for the entire 2011 campaign. Forward Monique Currie injured her knee while playing in professionally in Turkey (a pretty common practice for WNBA players during the offseason), and the resulting surgery will keep her out indefinitely. From a Mystics press release.

"It is unfortunate that we won't have Monique for the 2011 season, although she probably will not return to the court, her leadership and knowledge of the game will continue to benefit our team," said [General Manager and CoachTrudi] Lacey. "I am confident that our team will work hard and stay together to make the upcoming year the best possible."

During the 2010 season, Currie maintined averages of 14.1 ppg and 4.8 rbg while leading the team in 3 pt percentage at just under 45%.
