John Wall Will Learn To Slow Down Next Season, Says Ty Lawson

Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson is one of the few players in the league that can compete with John Wall in the “fastest player with the ball in his hands” discussion. The Nuggets guard tore up the Wizards last night, scoring 17 points and whizzing by the Wizards’ defenders (pun intended).

Afterwards, the Nuggets guard took some time to discuss Wall in an interview with Rashad Mobley of Truth About It. Lawson, who has learned to control his speed by playing with Chauncey Billups (who plays “slow as hell,” says Lawson), said Wall still has to figure that out, and probably won’t figure it out for a season.

You know, honestly, he’s all one speed right now, and that speed is blinding. I mean, literally, I had to sprint a couple times to get back, and I still was behind him, and he had the ball and I didn’t. It’ll probably take him his whole rookie year and the summer to truly learn, because he’s not that far removed from high school. Next year, he’ll be killing folks.

I look forward to next year, then.
