The Maryland Terrapins righted the ship last Saturday with a win over Clemson, but they'll face an interesting test tonight when they take on local rival Virginia. The Cavaliers are just 11-8 on the season and 2-3 in the ACC, so this is a big game for them. The loser of this game falls well down the ACC pecking order and probably loses much chance of making the NCAA Tournament.
Virigina snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday with a win over Georgia Tech. They are 3-3 since losing leading scorer Mike Scott for the season with an injury, so clearly that was a big loss for them. Maryland, of course, is totally healthy and led by their superstar big man, Jordan Williams.
The Terps won both meetings between these two teams last season, and will be looking to continue their climb up the ACC. Neither team can really afford a loss in this one.
