In a pivotal Big East matchup, the Georgetown Hoyas are leading the 7th ranked Villanova Wildcats 32-26 at the break.
In a back and forth first half, it was Georgetown who was able to gain control in the late minutes of the first half. Villanova looked to take control at the ten minute mark of the first half, but Georgetown countered with a run to put them in the lead that would stand for the rest of the period. Guard Austin Freeman scored a game high 12 points so far, with the bench making solid contributions both on defense and on offense, as all but one member of the bench has scored in the first half.
The key going forward in the second half for the Hoyas is to keep locking down the Villanova guards. They have one of the top guard tandems in the country and through the first half, they have accounted for just 14 points. If they can continue to play well against them, the Hoyas may have a chance to secure a very crucial road win in the Big East.
