The Air Force Falcons lead 21-3 at halftime over the Navy Midshipmen, and fans in Annapolis are probably happy the margin isn't worse. The Falcons scored on a long pass play two minutes into the game, and have added two more touchdowns on long scoring drives to take the commanding 18 point lead in their quest to retain the coveted Commander-in-Chief's trophy.
Air Force quarterback Tim Jefferson has thrown and run for a touchdown, with the Falcons' other score coming on running back Asher Clark's 23 yard dash into the end zone.
The Navy offense has been held in check all half, with the only Midshipmen points coming from the leg of Jon Teague on a 25 yard field goal. Unfortunately, Teague also missed a chip shot 26 yard feld goal that would at least have dragged Navy within two scores of the Falcons.
The highlight of the first half for Navy was a nifty second quarter fake punt, but unfortunately the Midshipmen offense failed to capitalize.
Eight of the last 10 games between Air Force and Navy have been decided by a touchdown or less, so perhaps there is a Navy rally ahead in the second half.
