Darin Drakeford Injury Update: Maryland Linebacker Expected To Play Vs. Florida State

Maryland Terrapins linebacker Darin Drakeford is likely to return to the lineup when his club visits Doak Campbell Stadium this Saturday, Oct. 22, to take on the Florida St. Seminoles, reports Patrick Stevens of the Washington Times. Coach Randy Edsall said Thursday that Drakeford will likely play "as long as everything goes the way it should in practice," and could even re-claim his starting job at weak-side linebacker.

Should Drakeford practice without incident and manage to play Saturday, it'll be his first game in nearly a month; he last took the field on Sept. 24 against the Temple Owls. The junior injured his ankle in Maryland's season-opening victory and missed its subsequent game, only to return briefly against Temple before re-aggravating the injury.

The Washington, D.C. native tallied 14 tackles prior to the initial injury, and has 17 total on the year. He's also recorded a sack and forced a fumble.
