Maryland Vs. Florida State: Terrapins And Seminoles Both Have Laundry List Of Injuries

When the Maryland Terrapins (2-4, 1-2) face the Florida State Seminoles (3-3, 1-2 ACC) at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee Saturday afternoon, fans of both schools might find themselves watching a number of new faces. Both teams are extremely beat up heading into the Week 8 matchup, with double-digit players on their respective injury reports. For the Seminoles, the injuries are largely on the offensive side of the ball; for the Terrapins, it’s the defense that’s been plagued by the injury bug.

“We’ll call it the `Red Badge of Courage’ game between our offense and their defense,” [Florida State head coach Jimbo] Fisher said.

FSU has ten players on the official injury report, but Maryland’s list is amazingly 50 percent bigger. 15 Terrapins are on the official report, 11 of which have already been ruled out for Saturday’s game. Six of those 11 are on Maryland’s defense.

The biggest loss for the Terps however is on the offensive side of the ball. Wide receiver Kevin Dorsey has been ruled out for Sunday. There had been much speculation about why Dorsey missed the second half of Maryland’s hard-fought loss to Clemson last Saturday.

Here’s the full injury report:

WR Tyrek Cheeseboro
G Andrew Gonnella
DB Avery Graham
LB Garrett Lederman
S Matt Robinson

TE Dave Stinebaugh

QUESTIONABLE

Here’s how Testudo Times, SB Nation’s Maryland blog, had to say about the injuries to Dorsey and others:

Dorsey’s loss hurts, but we’ve gone over it before – he’ll be replaced by Marcus Leak, and it’s more or less a roll of the dice given Maryland’s wide receivers situation. As for White … he’s replacing Andrew Gonnella at LG, and if he can’t go Maryland will be reaching to third-string. He’s probable, so I don’t expect it to be a problem, but you never know.
