We're through one quarter of play in South Bend, and it looks like Navy football's woes are on their way to continuing. Cierre Wood scored a one-yard touchdown run in the final minute of the first quarter, and the Fighting Irish lead Navy, 14-0.
The Midshipmen started the game with the ball and made a nice drive, but it resulted in no points when Jon Teague missed a 47-yard field goal. Notre Dame got the ball back and promptly marched 55 yards for a touchdown, with Jonas Gray finishing off the drive from four yards out. The Midshipmen went three and out on their next possession, and Notre Dame scored on the ensuing drive with Wood's touchdown.
Quarterback Trey Miller has struggled filling in for Kriss Proctor for Navy, rushing for only three yards and throwing for only 12.
