Navy Vs. Southern Miss: Alexander Teich, Navy's Leading Rusher, Suspended For Game

The Navy Midshipmen will be without senior fullback Alexander Teich as they take on Southern Miss on Saturday. Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo told reporters on Wednesday that Teich is unlikely to play as part of a team disciplinary matter. If Teich doesn't play, which it looks highly likely he won't, the Midshipmen will be playing with two very inexperienced fullbacks.

Teich leads the team with 408 rushing yards and is coming off of a career day against Air Force in the Midshipman's 35-34 overtime loss. Teich ran for 149 yards against the Falcons and is averaging over 5 yards per carry on the season. The senior fullback has started 17 games in his career and looked to be a full time player offensively.

The team did not elaborate on the nature of the suspension, but did not it wasn't a felony. "It's kind of a family, inner-circle deal, and I don't want to disclose too much of what's going on," Niumatalolo told reporters. "You don't want to air dirty laundry, so to speak, because the kid's been an important part of our program. So out of respect for him, I don't want to say what happened."
