For only the second time in the history of the two schools, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6-3) will take on the Maryland Terrapins (2-7) on the gridiron. Notre Dame won the previous meeting 22-0 in the 2002 Kickoff Classic.
Though the game will be played at FedEx, though the Terrapins will actually be the road team. This will be the second straight ACC foe the Fighting Irish will face, having defeated Wake Forest 24-17 last Saturday.
Maryland has lost five straight games and is reeling, but if Randy Edsall's club can pull off a huge win Saturday night at FedEx, it would be a welcome reprieve from a rough first season in College Park for the embattled successor to former Terrapins coach Ralph Friedgen.
