Devils Vs. Capitals: Washington Aims For Home-And-Home Sweep

One day after earning a 3-1 win, the Caps will face the Devils once again Saturday at Verizon Center.

It seems like it was just yesterday that the Washington Capitals defeated the New Jersey Devils. That's because it was yesterday.

After the Caps' 3-1 victory over the Devils in Newark, New Jersey, the two teams will head to D.C. to face off once again Saturday at Verizon Center.

Friday, the Devils took an early 1-0 lead - the ninth time in 14 games this season that the Caps trailed 1-0 - but a second-period goal from Alex Ovechkin and third-period goals from Jason Chimera and Marcus Johansson ended the Caps' two-game skid.

Mike Green returned to the lineup Friday for the first time in nearly three weeks, but hurt himself fairly quickly when he suffered a lower-body injury from a Ryan Carter hit. Green left late in the first period and attempted a return in the second, but ultimately went back to the locker room for the rest of the game. Afterwards, head coach Bruce Boudreau said that Green's injury is "day-to-day" and not a "three-week day-to-day...an actual day-to-day." Greens' status for Saturday is uncertain.

Michal Neuvirth and Johan Hedberg should start for their respective teams Saturday.
