At the end of the first quarter the Notre Dame Fighting Irish lead the Maryland Terrapins 10-0 at FedEx Field. The Irish jumped out to an early lead after Jonas Gray scored a touchdown from one-yard out less than four minutes into the game. This is music to Notre Dame fans' ears based on their inability to score in the red-zone this season. The Irish then extended their lead to 10-0 on a 52-yard field goal by David Ruffer.
The Terrapins came into the game on a disappointing losing streak, and are now officially eliminated from bowl contention. First year coach Randy Edsall decided to go with Danny O'Brien as his starting QB in this game. He had been rotating between C.J. Brown and O'Brien. So far O'Brien has played much better than his season clip in this game, but Notre Dame is beating the Maryland defense.
